John Turrell graced my ‘Hot Stone’ album with his amazing vocals on ‘Northern Comfort’, and now the big fella has got a solo album coming out.
Here’s a taster - a super remix from the go to man for all things tea and reggae related; Wrongtom.
Released through The Big Chill Label July 2013.
I’ve DJ’d at festivals, on the radio, in art galleries, on the back of an old army truck and even at a wedding where Rick Astley was the best man, but the last time I played records at lunchtime was the first time I ever played records in public - 21 years ago, at Froebel College in South West London for a charity week fundraiser. Belt-driven turntables, De La Soul 7inches and a busted speaker are about as much as I can remember of the occasion, but this week I get to do it again!
This Friday, 26th April, I’ll be playing some records at the splendid Lunchtime Disco, with the lovely Jess Indeedy and the mighty DJ Helix. The fun(k) starts at 12 noon, and takes place at The Book Club on Leonard Street, London EC2. Be great to see some of my East London based peoples, come along for a drink, a disco sandwich and a stack of wax!
No busted speakers, but I’ll probably bring some De La Soul 7inches.
